LIVERMORE FALLS – A Farmington woman swerved to miss a cat Monday afternoon on Main Street then her truck struck a utility pole, knocking it and lines down, cutting power in parts of Livermore Falls, Jay and Leeds.

Erika Marchetti, 28, was southbound on the road, which is also Route 4, when the accident occurred just north of Ben’s Variety and south of the Jay line, police Lt. Thomas Gould said.

The pickup truck sustained about $3,000 damage, Gould said. He didn’t believe Marchetti was injured.

The Livermore Falls dispatch center lost its electricity and was working on generator power until Central Maine Power Co. did an emergency rerouting to reconnect lines before installing a new pole, he said.

Power was out from 60 minutes to 90 minutes at the station, Gould said.

CMP crews installed a new pole and were still working on the power lines at 6:30 p.m.

Firefighters rerouted traffic around the scene while Livermore Falls Police officer Tony Duval handled the accident.
