LIVERMORE – People here are being reminded to vote today at the Town Office and not at the Community Building in Brettuns.

Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub announced at the selectpersons meeting on Monday night that signs would be posted telling people that the polls have been relocated to the Town Office.

When asked by resident Mike Shea about the change, Schaub said, “The Community Building is not handicap accessible; the doorways are too small, among other things. The town office is as close as we can get to be in compliance.”

Schaub added, “There have never been as many absentee votes as this year. We have 170 to 180 as opposed to the usual 40 or 50.”

Polls are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In other matters, the board approved the renewal of a liquor license for the Lakeshore Cafe on Federal Road. The restaurant serves liquor and offers entertainment.

Shea again complained to the board about a River Road culvert. He had come to the board before and was told that it would try to correct the problem. The town built a trench along a rock wall, but now Shea’s field is being flooded.

“I have animals and I can’t use my field because of the water,” he said.

Schaub said the town will have someone look it over and make suggestions.

Chairperson Grace Jacques asked Shea if that would be OK with him and he agreed.

Schaub said property taxes are coming in fast and furious. Nov. 15 is the tax payment deadline.

The Town Office will be closed Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans’ Day.

The Planning Board will hold a public hearing and meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Town Office.
