Alzheimer’s Memory Walk raises $4,300

RUMFORD – The Rumford Community Home-sponsored Memory Walk brought 43 walkers to the home’s lobby for refreshments before starting out on a one- or three-and-a-half-mile walk through the Virginia section of Rumford.

Oxford County Arc fielded a team of 23, who raised $1,600. Rumford Community Home’s team boasted eight walkers. They raised $460. The Richards family team comprised six walkers and raised $430. The smallest team was Mimi’s with one walker, but that one walker raised $275. Five individual walkers not affiliated with a team raised a $460. The Fraternal Order of Eagles donated $1,000 and its Auxiliary, another $100.

The Memory Walk is an annual event staged to raise money for Alzheimer’s research and programs in Maine. This year there were 14 walk sites throughout Maine.
