The whistle blew. Captains went to the center field. Tori Zupancic, Abby Randall, and Bri Hammond headed over. The coin was flipped and the Tigers had the ball to start the game. The refs came over to check our cleats and mouth guards and before we knew it, the whistle had blown again and we had started the game.

Kick off started and the first pass went to me. I dribbled up the field some and passed it to Courtney Anderson. The ball got stolen after a couple of passes and it went back onto Tigers territory. One of our players threw an elbow in the goalie’s box and it was an automatic PK. (Penalty Kick.) The Lewiston girl kicked it, and Swoosh! Right into the net.

After that, elbows were being thrown everywhere and people were being tripped left and right. The ball would be stolen and it would go up the field and then reverse directions.

It was a rough first period and coach wasn’t happy with how we were playing. At half-time she told us that we weren’t communicating, not enough shots on goal, we weren’t helping back, and we weren’t hustling. Well, it all changed in the second period.

On the first play of the second half Bri Hammond scored a goal. A few minutes later, Courtney Anderson scored a goal. Before we knew it we were up by a goal!

With like six minutes to go, Tigers had the ball and were going down the field. Bri Hammond was on the outside corner. Tori Zupancic crossed the ball across the field to Bri and she booted it into the top of the net. Tripp Tigers were up by two now.

Lewiston was in a panic. Subs were coming in and out all the time. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. The whistle blew. The game was over and Tripp Middle School Tigers had won. It was our first victory and our first game. We already were off to a good start. One by one we went through the line and slapped Lewiston’s hands.

After we went through, we huddledup, did a chant and watched the guys play. The following Monday we played Auburn. It was a hard game to play, but in the end, we ened upu tying 2-2. Tripp Tigers are a good team that have good skills and works hard together. We have excellent teamwork. Be ready, cause the Tigers are ready to play!
