Lewiston – The anniversary of the birth of Bah’u’llh, prophet-founder of the Bah’ faith, will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Saturday in Skelton Lounge of Chase Hall on the Bates College campus.

People are welcome to join the celebration sponsored by the Bah’ Association. Light refreshments will be served.

Founded in Iran in 1844, the Bah’ faith is the youngest of the world’s independent, monotheistic religions. Some 5 million Bah’ live in 235 countries and territories. There are more than 155,000 Bah’s in the United States. Bah’s come from nearly every national, ethnic and religious background, making the Bah’ faith geographically the second-most widespread religion in the world.

Bah’u’llh, whose given name was Mirza Husayn-Al, was born into Persian nobility in Tehran in 1817. His teachings center on the oneness of God, the oneness of religion and the oneness of humankind. Bah’ teachings also include the urgent need for the elimination of prejudice of all kinds and creation of a world federal system of government to establish and maintain universal peace.
