PORTLAND (AP) – The Coast Guard saved a sinking boat, a fisherman escaped his burning vessel and an injured fisherman was airlifted to safety on Tuesday in three separate incidents in New England waters.
Shortly before 5 p.m., the Coast Guard used a helicopter to retrieve an injured 31-year-old man from a New Hampshire-based fishing vessel .
A few hours later, a fishing boat from Portland helped rescue a fisherman from a burning vessel. Earlier, crews used pumps to assist fishermen in a boat taking on water.
about 40 nautical miles east of Jonesport, Maine. Eulah McGrath of Newington, N.H., was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Fishermen aboard the Stella G located a crewman in a life raft who had abandoned the Fitz Sea, based in Lubec, Maine.
