FARMINGTON – Police are looking for two men involved in a Sunday afternoon parking lot robbery, Lt. Jack Peck said Wednesday.
The victim, a local woman, was walking out to her car from Ken and Sadie’s Store in Farmington Falls on Sunday when a man ran up, stole about $400 from her hand, jumped into a car, and was driven off.
The woman rushed to her car and followed after the men. She called police from her cell phone while she followed the robber from Farmington Falls, through New Sharon, and toward Starks, Peck said.
Apparently, somewhere near Starks, the getaway driver pulled the car to the side of the road and parked. When the woman parked behind it, the robber jumped out and drove a knife into one of her car’s tires, and then jumped back into the car and was off again, Peck said.
The woman took off in pursuit, “now with only three tires instead of four,” the lieutenant said.
Franklin County Deputy Michelle St. Clair caught up with the car in Starks. The robber jumped out and ran into the woods when she arrived, and was not found by police or a tracking dog.
The getaway car driver, who was not identified, has not been charged, Peck said. He and the suspected robber are both known by the Skowhegan police, who have been helping with the investigation.
