LEWISTON – The Atrium Art Gallery at the University of Southern Maine/Lewiston-Auburn will be sponsoring Area Artists 2007, a biennial open juried exhibition open to visual artists in all media who live or work in Androscoggin, Franklin, or Oxford counties.

Artists may submit up to two works to be juried; there is no entry fee. Delivery dates are Friday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 2, at USM/Lewiston-Auburn, Westminster Street.

All media will be considered – from paintings, drawings, prints and photography to works in clay, fiber, wood, metal and other three-dimensional media.

Jurors will be Bill Low and Kevin Callahan. Low is the assistant curator at the Bates College Museum of Art. Callahan is the owner of Callahan Art Preparatory Services, providing consulting services to artists, museums, galleries and corporate clients.

The exhibition will open in the Atrium Gallery from Jan. 21 through March 30. The opening reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21.

Brochures and entry forms with guidelines for submitting work are available in the Atrium Art Gallery or by calling Robyn Holman, director of exhibitions, at 753-6554, e-mail holman@usm.maine.edu. Information on the exhibition is also available on the college Web site at usm.maine.edu/lac/art/areaartists07.
