I have read an article on Sept. 10 about Hannaford’s nutritional navigation. In order to make choosing healthy food easier, Hannaford would give a gold star according to how healthy a food was. The food was chosen by these qualities. If there was too much sugar, or fat in a food, it would not receive a star.
I believe Hannaford is doing the right thing towards choosing healthy foods. I agree with Hannaford that using the gold star approach will help people in the future with choosing what’s best for them, because they will realize what they are putting into their bodies.
Many people in the United States’ are obese, and the only way to solve this is to approach the problem slowly. Hannaford is doing that. Now when people go to Hannaford around New England, they will see the foods they are picking, and maybe instead of picking the name brand food because it’s what they have always gotten, they will take the a similiar food but with better nutrition. The gold star system gives people a better understanding of the foods they are buying so they can make the right choice.
Hannaford is doing a great job to help the obese people of the United States in learning what foods are right for them. If stores around the nation can all chip in, we can make our nation a more fit place for people to live.
My only question is: What foods will you start buying?
