BRUNSWICK – Lindsay McNamara broke a 1-1 tie with 18:55 remaining in the game, sending Bowdoin to its second-straight NCAA Final Four field hockey appearance with a 3-1 victory over William Smith.
McNamara corralled the rebound of a Julia King shot and knocked the ball home. McNamara also collected an assist on Burgess LePage’s second goal of the game for the Polar Bears (17-1). King finished with two assists. Bowdoin’s defense allowed only six shots in the game, and Kate Leonard turned aside three second-half chances in the Polar Bear cage. Katie DeKraker made four saves for William Smith.
Third-ranked Bowdoin will face fifth-ranked Messiah College in the NCAA semifinals on Friday, Nov. 17 on the campus of William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y.
