COPLIN PLANTATION – An accident on Route 16 early Saturday morning claimed the life of a Jay man.

Bryan Allen, 24, was traveling toward Rangeley around 12:30 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a left-hand corner and flipped his 2000 Ford pickup truck, said Maine State Police Trooper Aaron Hayden.

“The pickup truck came to rest in a near-by field, where Allen was ejected from the vehicle,” Hayden explained.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

According to Hayden, other passengers in the vehicle were Daniel Fitch, 24, Eric Mastine, 21, and Aaron Adams, 24. All three were wearing seat belts and escaped from the crash with minor injuries.

Trooper Matthew Casavant was still investigating the accident Sunday night.
