SOUTH PARIS – Ada May Tufts, 87, of Poland, died Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
She was born in Poland on Sept. 2, 1919, one of six children of Lorenzo and Junie Tripp Strout. She was a life-time resident of Poland and attended schools there.
On June 21, 1937, she married Leroy W. Tufts of New Gloucester. The couple had three daughters.
Beloved for her warm smile and generous heart, she loved her family, playing beano, spending each morning with the “coffee crowd” and helping her friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Lorraine E. Tufts of Mechanic Falls, Elaine L. Martin of Burton, S.C. and Sharon L. McAllister of Poland; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Forest Strout of Poland; and a sister, Lorene Edwards of Mechanic Falls.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy; a brother, Asa D. Strout; and two sisters, Florence M. Ryder and Louise M. Thurlow.
