FARMINGTON – Police interviewed a manager at Movie Gallery and watched security video Monday in an attempt to learn more about whoever robbed the store at gunpoint late Sunday afternoon.

Police Lt. Jack Peck was reviewing security video from the nearby Bangor Savings Bank when he was notified a rash of car burglaries was taking place, he said, and he had to put the investigation into the armed robbery on hold.

At 5:15 Sunday night, police responded to a robbery at Movie Gallery in the Mount Blue Shopping Center. Police say a tall man dressed in khaki pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black ski mask entered the store, displayed a handgun, and told store customers to lie face down on the floor. He then demanded the lone clerk give him all the money in the cash register, took it, and fled.

Movie Gallery manager Susan Wright said she could not speak to reporters but did divulge that the clerk in the store at the time was shaking after the robbery.

The company will cooperate fully with authorities, Movie Gallery spokesperson Andrew Siegel said.

Police ask that anyone who saw anything unusual between 5 and 5:30 p.m call the Farmington police department at 778.6311.
