LIVERMORE FALLS – Trustees of the Livermore Falls Water District are taking comment Wednesday on taking out a loan for up to $855,000 to replace water mains along Park, Cedar, Oak, Maple, Spruce and Birch streets.
The district has more than $400,000 in grants to help pay for the estimated $1.3 million project, district Treasure Cheryl Marceau said Monday.
Trustees are taking comment at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Water District on Depot Street on their intention to issue and sell to the U.S. Department of Agriculture interest-bearing bonds totaling up to $855,000 and to provide interim financing in connection with the project.
The project calls for installation of new water mains from Shuy Corner at routes 17 and 133, also known as Park Street, to the water district’s pressure reducing valve pit near the fire station on Park Street.
The water line replacement is expected to increase water pressure for fire hydrants.
The work is also expected to reduce scale and rust, prevent future corrosion issues, improve water quality and the quantity available and stabilize system pressure fluctuations.
