AUBURN – For many years the Auburn Business Association and city of Auburn has organized the holiday parade along with the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
This year they will incorporate a Holiday Parade of Lights in hopes of expanding the parade to include more floats decorated in lights.
The Holiday Parade of Lights will be held at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27. Based on parade entrants and size of floats, the city will use one of two parade routes. The parade will, however, end at Festival Plaza with the lighting of the giant spruce and Santa’s arrival.
The organizers hope to reach out to surrounding communities to make the event bigger and better. They invite area schools, businesses, churches, organizations and municipalities to participate in the parade.
Those who would like to participate by entering a float should fill out a form and return it by Wednesday, Nov. 22. The original Festival Plaza Santa is the only Santa allowed in the parade.
Those who have questions or wish to register over the phone should contact Tracey Steuber at 333-6600 or visit www.auburnmaine.org for an entry form.
