TRIAD program hosts seniors frolic
WATERFORD – The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office TRIAD Program (crime prevention for senior citizens) recently held a Senior Citizens Fall Frolic Day at the Waterford Grange 479. Those attending learned about the Medicare Part D Program from speaker, Leah Ustach of SeniorsPlus.
Christopher VanDyck of the Maine Office of Securities spoke on investment fraud, and Diane Jackson and Karen Staples from Sen. Olympia Snowe’s office spoke briefly as did Marla Morin of Community Concepts. She discussed the HEAP heating assistance program.
A lunch of homemade corn chowder, vegetable soup and apple crisp was served and the day ended with bingo.
The Oxford County TRIAD SALT Council meets from 1 to 3 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month from March through December at the Maine Veterans’ Home, High Street, South Paris. The meetings include review of programs, problems, suggestion, discussions and sometimes speakers, all dealing with the concerns of Oxford County senior citizens.
Other activities throughout the year include hanging May baskets for shut-ins and senior citizens who live in rural areas. The council also holds the annual Senior Citizens Appreciation Day Picnic the last Friday in June at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds.
