LIVERMORE FALLS – Two SAD 36 buses and 14 children’s booster seats stored at the bus lot were sprayed with fire extinguishers over the weekend.
A bus driver came in Monday to the station to tell police that someone had taken a fire extinguisher from bus No. 5 and sprayed the inside of the bus, including more than a dozen booster seats, Livermore Falls police officer Joe Sage said Tuesday.
A bus driver had also came to the police station Saturday and reported that someone had taken a fire extinguisher from bus No. 9 and sprayed the outside of that bus, Sage said.
The extinguisher powder made a mess, he said.
SAD 36 Transportation Director David Brackett said that the 14 booster seats on bus No. 5 are used by Livermore Falls Head Start students.
The seats could not be used Monday, he said.
The powder was vacuumed off and the seats were wiped down, Brackett said.
He said he’d like to be able to park the buses in a secure compound in the future.
He estimated that it cost $30 to clean the seats and $30 to refill the extinguishers.
“We were lucky this time,” he said.
