LEWISTON – Bertrand R. Lauze, 90, formerly of 51 Rosedale St., died Wednesday, Nov. 15, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.
He was born in Lewiston Aug. 20, 1916, the son of Philippe and Emma (Simard) Lauze. On June 19, 1939, he married the former Yvette Simard who predeceased him on April 30, 2005.
Bert worked at Bates Mill for nearly 50 years as a slasher, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, former member of the Sacred Heart League, Holy Cross Parish and also former member of Knights of Columbus Council No.106.
He is survived by one son, Roland Lauze, and his wife, Constance, of Lovell; five daughters, Marguerite Kramer, and her husband, Frederick, of Port Orange, Fla., Antoinette Palmer, and her husband, Stephen, of Milford, N.H., Bernadette Wailus, and her husband, Robert, of Lewiston, Glorianne Defosse, and her husband, Lionel, of Coventry, R.I. and Elizabeth Pelletier, and her husband, Roger, of Bowdoinham; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife he was predeceased by one brother, Robert Lauze, and his wife, Alice Lauze; and one sister, Yvette Lauze.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Clover Manor and d’Youville Pavilion for the special and wonderful care they gave to Bert.
