CONCORD, NH – Trish Sylvain netted a game-high 19 points to lead New Hampshire Technical Institute to a 86-55 victory over Central Maine Community College in women’s basketball action Wednesday.

Christen Peek chipped in for NHTI (3-0) with 17 points, while Jaymee Lockett tallied 16 and Brittany Smith added 13. NHTI held a commanding 41-29 advantage at the half and was never challenged.

The Mustangs (1-3) were paced by Amanda Webb with 17 points, while Marci Moors added 11.

Men’s soccer

NHTI 82, CMCC 81

CONCORD, NH – Chris Laws and Levell Brunton drained 23 points apiece Wednesday evening to lead New Hampshire Technical College to a narrow 82-81 victory over Central Maine Community College in men’s hoops action.

Dave Constance chipped in for NHTI (5-1) with 10 points in what was essentially a two-man show.

The Mustangs (4-4) held a 40-32 advantage at the half and let it slip away by the tightest of margins.

Kaleb Violette led Central Maine with a blistering 40 points, while Jon Gilson tallied 18 and Dave Labonte added 10.

The Mustangs had seven players who saw court time yet failed to score.

Hebron 1, MP 0

SOUTH HAMILTON, Mass. – Charlie Cummings scored the game’s only goal as Hebron edged Marianapolis Prep 1-0 in quarterfinal action of the New England Class C soccer tournament.

Will Sorkin turned away five shots in net to preserve the shutout. Hebron outshot Marianapolis 15-5 and had just enough accuracy to seal the win.

Hebron will now advance to the semifinal round on Saturday afternoon.

Hebron 2, Brewster 1

BREWSTER, N.Y. – Jasmine Webber netted a goal in overtime to lift Hebron to a 2-1 victory over Brewster Academy in New England Class C tournament action Wednesday.

Kailey Bubier also tallied for Hebron, tying the contest after Brewster took a 1-0 advantage early on. Bubier’s goal came 10 minutes into the second period.

Kate Buesser tallied the lone goal for Brewster. The Lumberjacks will now face off against No. 5 seed Holderness on Saturday at the Dexter and Southfield School in Brookline, Mass.
