RUMFORD – Any woman looking to pamper herself can now go to the historic Hotel Harris to find everything under one roof.
Diane Ronan of Peru opened the Island Indulgence spa earlier this month.
“I love to see people be happy. This takes them away from their regular life, and they feel good when they leave,” she said.
Offered in the spacious first floor of the hotel are facials, body waxing, manicures and pedicures, hair styling, a tanning bed, a hot tub, massages, and several lines of women’s clothing, shoes, accessories and skin products.
This is Ronan’s second business aimed at making people feel good all over.
She has operated Slopeside Serenity Spa near the Sunday River Ski Resort in Newry for more than four years. That business is largely seasonal.
The Rumford site is expected to serve nonseasonal customers as well as handle any overflow from the Newry site. Her limousine will transport people from Bethel to Rumford.
Ronan also will offer spa and dinner packages with the Boiler Room at the Harris, a restaurant housed in the hotel.
Planned are dinners for two, massages and use of the hot tub, all for one price.
She also wants to offer ladies’ nights, pajama parties and other spa parties designed for teenage girls and groups. Some of the packages will include pickup by the limousine.
Eventually, she plans to offer a sauna.
The business employs four people and subcontracts with three massage therapists. Ronan, a cosmetologist for 23 years, is also certified in massage, manicures, pedicures and facials.
She plans a grand opening from 3 to 6 p.m. Dec. 2, the same day the hotel will celebrate its centenary. Island Indulgence will offer Christmas goodies and giveaways.
