BOSTON – Northeastern University of Boston held graduation exercises on May 6. Among the graduates was Staff Sgt. Jesse Simoneau, who studied international affairs during his three years at Northeastern and received his bachelor of arts degree with honors.

Simoneau and seven other Marines were commissioned on May 15 at the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Boston. Lt. Gen. Jan C. July, deputy commandant of plans, policies and operation in Washington, D.C., was the speaker at the commissioning ceremony.

Simoneau, now a lieutenant, is a 1996 graduate of Jay High School. He reported to basic officers’ training in Quantico, Va., on July 6. Simoneau, who is married to Senay, is the son of Rick and Lisa Simoneau of Jay and the grandson of Napoleon “Mimi” and Violet Frechette, Frances Simoneau and the late Larry Simoneau.
