JAY – Officer Troy Young is doing well and was expected to be released from a Lewiston hospital Thursday. He has a broken leg and will need surgery on it in the near future, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.
Young was responding to an accident about 1 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of the cruiser he was driving on Woodman Hill Road and crashed.
He was trapped in the cruiser with his legs pinned for 2 hours before emergency responders could remove him from the vehicle. He was taken by air ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center.
State police are investigating the accident.
