HARTFORD – Fred S. Barrett, 82, died Friday, Nov. 17, at his residence in Hartford.

He was born in Andover, on Oct. 24, 1924, a son of Scott and Eva (Whynot) Barrett. He attended Andover schools. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Ship’s Cook Second Class from 1943 to 1946. He worked for more than 38 years at Boise Cascade Paper Co. retiring in 1986 as a hyster driver with the unloading crew.

He was a member of the Dixfield Senior Citizens. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.

He was married in Mexico, on March 29, 1947, to Mildred Irene Powell who survives of Hartford.

Other survivors include two sons, Bob Barrett, and his wife, Linda, of Canton and Scott Barrett, and his wife, Cathy, of Davenport, Fla.; two daughters, Vivian A Crocker, and her husband, Rodney, of Hartford and Debbie Warren, and her husband, Edward, of Morrill; and six grandchildren.
