CANTON – Theodore F McDonald, 59, died Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Rumford Hospital. He was a resident of Turner Street in Canton.
He was born in Rumford, on Dec. 1, 1946, a son of John and Delia (Rodrique) McDonald, Sr. He was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1966, and attended welding school in Calais.
He was in the U.S. Navy Reserve and active on the USS Hammerberg. “Uncle Ted” to many, he was truly a big hearted generous spirit. He was always ready to lend a hand or share a job with his many friends. He loved cooking and cookouts at the camp, his garden, spoiling the animals, playing with his wood boiler and chasing bargains in Uncle Henry’s. He lived life fully everyday.
He worked at many jobs, running Taber’s in Canton, welding on construction and most recently driving for Western Maine Transportation.
He is survived by his former wife and lifelong companion, Rebecca McDonald of Canton; a son, Michael McDonald, and his companion, Heidi Fowler, of Townsend, Mass.; four brothers, John McDonald Jr., and his wife, Theresa, of Mexico, Joseph McDonald, and his wife, Julie, of Rumford, Dan McDonald, and his wife, To-To, of Rumford and Steve McDonald, and his wife, Jane, of Rumford; two sisters, Jeanette McDonald of Mexico and Joyce Radcliff, and her husband, Edgar, of North Fort Myers, Fla.; sister-in-law, Susan Buzza of Bucyrus, Ohio; mother-in-law, Delphia Eastman of Mexico; numerous and wonderful nieces and nephews; special friends, Wendall Parlin and Rose White of Canton; the coffee buddies at McDonalds; and his beloved dogs, Little Bear, Sophie and Zephyr.
He was predeceased by his parents.
