JAY – Albert and Adeline Soucy of Jay were honored on Sept. 10 on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. An open house was held at their home, planned by their children.

A luncheon was served, prepared by the family, and also served was an anniversary cake, cut by the couple. Decorations were in pink, white and silver. They received many gifts, flowers and a large basket of cards. About 100 relatives, friends and school classmates of the couple, attended, including their maid of honor, Margaret Meader Paine.

Mr. Soucy and the former Adeline (Bobbie) Meader, were married on Sept. 14, 1946, in Temple, by Currier Holman, justice of the peace.

They are members of the Jay Baptist Church, the Livermore Falls Rotary Club, the VFW and the American Legion.

Mrs. Soucy was a homemaker, seamstress and child care provider in the earlier years of their marriage, and then owner of Aunt Bobbie’s Crafts and Gifts for 31 years. Her hobbies are crocheting, crafts and her flower garden.

Mr. Soucy served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pasadena from 1944 to 1946 in the Pacific Theater. He was employed at International Paper Co. for 46 years and was co-owner, with his wife, of Soucy’s TV and Appliances for 42 years, both retiring in 1994. His hobbies are gardening and crossword puzzles.

They are the parents of four children, Kimberly and (David) Cook of Jay, Theodore Soucy of Livermore Falls, Kevin and Linda Soucy of Sterling, Mass. and Daniel and Ellen Soucy of Houlton.

They have eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Ward of Lincoln, T.J. Plourde and Melissa of Jay, Tracy and Jason Soucy of Sabattus, Andrew and Brice Soucy of Sterling, Mass., Elizabeth Soucy of Glens Falls, N.Y., and Allyson Cook of Connecticut; and nine great-grandchildren, Madison, Tanner and Reilly Struck, Carter Ward, Kimberly and Brittany Soucy, and Adria, Ella and Anna Plourde.
