CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – The state Fish and Game Department is buying six robotic turkeys to help it catch poachers.
The turkeys can’t gobble, but they can fan their tails and bob their heads, even after getting hit by an indirect shotgun blast.
The agency plans to buy one for each of the state’s six fish and game management districts, after the Fish and Game Commission approved the funds this week. Col. Jeff Gray said Fish and Game has had great success catching poachers with deer decoys. The department also has robotic decoys of elk, coyote and other game species. Right now, the agency has six poaching cases in the state courts, he said.
