Worship service

AUBURN – A worship service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, Thanksgiving Day, at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 79 Lake St.

Following brief readings from Scriptures and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the service will be opened to the congregation to share testimonies of gratitude appropriate for the occasion.

Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered Christian Science, established the annual Thanksgiving service as an integral part of the church.

Celebratory music and the Thanksgiving proclamation will also be part of the one-hour service. A copy of the Thanksgiving Day readings is available by calling the church at 782-0012 and is online at www.spirituality.com.

Free transportation to the service is also available.

Blood drive

AUBURN – The 23rd Masonic District Association will hold its annual blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at the Auburn Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. There will be a free pancake breakfast and T-shirt for all those who donate blood. Call 1-800-482-0743 to schedule an appointment.

Seniors party

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens will hold the annual Christmas party from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the Ramada Inn, 490 Pleasant St.

There will be door prizes, pot of gold, raffles and a visit from Santa. The menu will include pot roast or fish. Tickets may be purchased at the Senior Office or from a board member. Cost is $12, and those wishing to attend do not need to be a member of the Lewiston Seniors.

Trustees to meet

HEBRON – The Hebron Historical Society will hold a trustees meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the town office to update projects and to plan programs. All trustees, members and interested parties are invited to attend.

Seniors trips

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens are sponsoring two trips in December on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those going do not need to be a member of the Lewiston Seniors.

On Sunday, Dec. 10, they will travel to the Beacon Resort for the annual Christmas party. There will be entertainment, a traditional holiday meal, a visit from Santa and gifts for everyone.

On Friday, Dec. 15, the Senior Citizens will go to Merrill Auditorium for the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s “Magic of Christmas.” Lunch will be at the Village Cafe (cost not included) followed by a 2 p.m. matinee. The group has lower terrace seats, so they will be on the main floor.

Marine Corps

AUBURN – The Marine Corps League, Central Maine Detachment, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at the New Auburn American Legion Post 153, 71 South Main St., New Auburn (use side door on Cook Street).

Members will discuss Toys for Tots Christmas boxes to be placed in stores and the new bylaws. Marines interested in being part of the detachment are welcome.
