HANOVER, N.H. (AP) – A Vermont couple have been arrested on charges of stealing eight parking meters and as much as $3,000 in meter change.
Derik and Josie Rogers of Wilder, Vt., were caught by police stealing money from a meter at about 2 a.m. Friday, police said.
Police began investigating about five months ago after the eight parking meters were stolen.
The city also noticed a steep drop in the amount of money they were collecting from meters: Over a five-week period in October and November, officials estimated they lost up to $600 a week.
Police used hidden cameras and increased patrols to catch the couple.
Hartford, Vt., police then found several parking meters and tools used to burgle them at the couple’s home, authorities said.
