LEWISTON – Frances M. Hodgman, 78, of 36 Delcliff Lane, died Saturday evening at her home, which she loved so dearly, after being ill for some time with cancer and rheumatoid arthritis.
She was born in Skowhegan on Feb. 19, 1928, the daughter of Evan F. and Jessie (Ross) Hall.
She was educated in the schools of Bingham and graduated from Bingham High School with the Class of 1946. After high school, she attended and graduated from the Pelletier School of Beauty Culture in Lewiston.
Later she was employed in several beauty salons in Waterville, Lewiston and Auburn.
On June 27, 1948, she was married to Clifford E. Hodgman at the Bingham Congregational Church in Bingham. After marriage, they resided on Sabattus Street in Lewiston, later in Auburn, then in Lewiston again.
After working as a hairdresser for some time, she later was a homemaker and raised three children as a stay-at-home mom.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clifford E. Hodgman; three children, Linda L. Ireland of Wales, Brian E. Hodgman of Lewiston, and Laurie A. Hodgman of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Thomas H. Ireland, U. S. Air Force, of Grand Forks, N.D., Brian E. Hodgman Jr. of Sabattus, Christopher F. Hodgman of Auburn, Daniel C. Ireland of Wales, Patrick R. Hodgman of Lewiston, and James R. Ireland of Wales; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Hodgman of Auburn.
