AUBURN – Glenna H. Fickett, 88, of Mechanic Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 18, at Clover Manor after a brief illness.

She was born at home on Quaker Ridge in Casco on Jan. 15, 1918, the daughter of Harold F. and Elsie Libby Hanscom.

Her family moved to Mechanic Falls in 1927, where she attended school. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1935. Following graduation from Auburn Maine School of Commerce, she worked a short time for Hancock Lumber Company in Casco.

On May 16, 1942, she married Clifford I. Fickett at her parents home in Mechanic Falls. He predeceased her on Dec. 10, 1981.

In the 1950s she began working as a teller at Lewiston Trust Co. in Mechanic Falls where she remained for the next 32 years, as it changed to Depositor’s Trust and then Key Bank. She retired from there in 1983.

She was a member of the Mechanic Falls Congregational Church for over 60 years and was very active with the Senior Guild and Women’s Fellowship.

She and Cliff enjoyed many trips throughout the United States with her cousin, Aletha and husband, Kenneth Mitchell, over the years. In the past few years, her favorite pastime was going out to eat with Aletha and friends, Virginia and Henry Jones, playing cards and dice to finish off the evening.

She is survived by one daughter, Julianne Rowe and her husband, Ashley, of Mechanic Falls; three grandsons, James and wife, Lisa M., of Mechanic Falls, John and wife, Lisa A., of Poland, and Andrew and Dawn of Hebron; four great-grandchildren, Ben, Meghan, Brandon and Cheyenne; a brother-in-law, Reginald Fickett and wife, Emma, of Casco; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at CMMC and the very special staff at Clover Manor for the loving care they all gave Glenna. The family will never forget you.
