LEWISTON – Ruth Irene Tripp, 88, a resident of Route 106 in Leeds, died Saturday evening, Nov. 18, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Leeds, the daughter of Weston D. and Addie E. (Wing) Burnham.

She attended grammar school in Leeds and was a 1937 graduate of Monmouth Academy.

On Sept. 4, 1937, she married Mark Tripp; he passed away in September of 1986.

She was a homemaker and mother most of her life. She was a member of the Monmouth Golden Years Club and the North Monmouth Community Church. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, reading and watching TV.

She is survived by her son, Leslie Tripp of Wareshoals, S.C.; a grandson, Mark Tripp of the Midwest; her sister, Delores F. Smith and her husband, Wilbur, of Leeds; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cats, Kitty and Lazy.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Gladys King.
