AUBURN – Norman N. Bureau, 76, of 70 Pinewoods Road, Lisbon, died Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 23, 1929, the son of Amedee and Rose (Couture) Bureau. He attended St. Peter’s School and graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School, Class of 1946.

He played hockey for St. Dom’s as a left-winger. He later coached the Lisbon Greyhounds hockey team, which he enjoyed very much.

He married the former Doris Lessard on Nov. 29, 1969. He was employed by the Lewiston Public Works for many years and also was employed at Happy Jack’s Restaurant as a cook. He retired in 1995.

His hobbies included photography and painting pictures and also enjoyed his computer.

Besides his wife, Doris of Lisbon, he is survived by two sons, Danny Bureau, and his wife, Jan, of Connecticut and Raymond Bureau of Vermont; one daughter, Diane Colaveckio, and her husband, Vinny, of Connecticut; two stepsons, Raymond Boies, and his fiancée, Carolyn Murray, of Livermore Falls and Robert Boies, and his wife, Therese and their children, Jeff, Ryan and Leanne of Lewiston; three stepdaughters, Connie Boies of Salinas, Calif., Pauline Bergeron, and her husband, Albert, of Sabattus and Rachel Giguere of Lisbon; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Bureau, Albert, Paul and Robert Bergeron, Jennifer Giguere, Kristina Giguere, Brianna Brown and Ryan and Shawn Boies; and seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Jordan, Hannah, Kaylee and Kasey Bergeron and Jason and Kylee Willis.

He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Raymond.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Androscoggin Home Hospice for the comfort and care they have given to Norman.
