Norway-Paris Lions Club member Earl Thompson presents a certificate of appreciation to Maggie Whittemore for her donation of more than 200 pair of eyeglasses.
Sight Night a success, Whittemore honored
PARIS – Maggie Whittemore, a sixth-grade student who collected eyeglasses, instead of candy on Halloween, presented more than 200 pair of eyeglasses to the Norway-Paris Lions Club. She was able to exceed her goal with the help of her classmates from the Madison Avenue school, her family, friends and community members.
Whittemore was presented a certificate of appreciation by Lions Club Eyeglass Committee Chairman Earl Thompson.
The eyeglasses collected will be hand delivered by Lions Club International to people in developing countries who can not afford the glasses.
There will be year-round drop-off sites at the Pro Vision Center in South Paris, Western Auto in Norway and Hannaford’s in Oxford for those who would still like to donate their used glasses.
