AUGUSTA – Claudia L’Heureux, 88, of Northern Avenue, died Saturday, Nov. 18, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, after a brief illness.
She was born in Lewiston, on July 22, 1918, the daughter of George and Claudia (Thibault) St. Pierre. She was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, Cushnoc Senior Citizens, American Association of Retired Persons and the Maine State Retirees Association.
She had been employed by the state of Maine for many years in the custodial department. She attended Bliss College in Lewiston. She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching and listening to opera and piano music.
Survivors include three sons, Robert L’Heureux, and his wife, Patricia, of Hartford, Richard L’Heureux, and his wife, Estelle, of Portland and Roland L’Heureux of Portland; two daughters, Louise Taber, M.D. of Phoenix, Ariz. and Marie-Alice L’Heureux, Ph.D. of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Patricia L’Heureux of Villa Park, Ill.; grandchildren, David Welch of Canton, Ga., Jason L’Heureux of Portland, Jasmine and Joshua Taber of Phoenix, Ariz. and Andre L’Heureux of Hartford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marcel L’Heureux Oct. 10, 1997; two brothers, John St. Pierre and Bertrand St. Pierre; and three sisters, Hilda Mullen, Irene St. Pierre and Mary St. Pierre.
