The Lisbon High School teaching team has grown and changed a lot in the last year. One welcomed new addition to the Science team is Ms. Olivia Griset. Ms. Griset teaches many classes including General Biology, Senior Science, Oceanography, Ecology, and Earth Science. Ms. Griset is not originally from Lisbon, or even Maine for that matter. She comes to us all the way from Utah. She did her undergraduate studies at Utah State. After that, she transferred to the University of Southern Maine for her graduate school work.
Teaching became a clear choice for her while she was working in research after graduating from college. She mentored in a high school classroom and “fell in love with teaching.” It came natural for her because she loves science and likes to see students learn to share the same passion. Ms. Griset also enjoys just working with high school students. She says it keeps her work “fun, challenging, and different.”
Ms. Griset has had a great start to the year and would like to say that she enjoys working in Lisbon with all the great people. The local outdoor features in Lisbon make for great tools for her lessons. Her first quarter has been an excellent one at LHS and she looks forward to many more!
