AVON – Heather Beal of Avon has been named to the newly created position of program coordinator at Montana Outdoor and Science School in Bozeman, Mont.

Beal has taught at the school for three years and will oversee the Ways of the West outreach program, after-school programs and adult programs. She graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a degree in geology and became certified to teach secondary science.

Before moving to Bozeman, Beal worked in Shelburne Farms in Vermont, leading field trips and summer camps on sustainable agriculture and environmental science. Drawing on her experience growing up on a dairy farm in Avon, she also coordinates and teaches a new series of summer agricultural programs. Beal is the daughter of Rick and Elaine Beal of Mendon, Vt., formerly of Avon.
