Every day I encounter drivers who speed, weave in and out of traffic lanes, tailgate, pull out in front of traffic and do other dangerous actions. Was this how drivers were taught?

Some people wonder what triggers road rage, accidents and fatalities, but my wife and I see that kind of driving almost every day. What really bothers me is that we are usually transporting our young child when those drivers pull their stunts. On the day I wrote this, a white convertible driven by a young woman sped right up behind my wife’s car and then attempted to pass while on a curve, almost met a car head-on, and all for what? Just to be one more car ahead?

A thought for those reckless drivers: Next time you see a hearse, wonder if that could have been you for such a stunt, maybe thinking you were being cool, or maybe just in too much of a hurry. Would it be worth it to die?

Those types need to smarten up or we will be reading about them on the obituary pages.

Driving is a privilege, not a right.
