LISBON – Gerald L. Martin, 66, of 53 Ferry Road, died Friday morning, Nov. 24, with his family by his side.

Gerald was born in Van Buren on June 10, 1940, the son of Peter and Edna Cormier Martin. He attended and graduated from parochial schools in Caribou.

On March 3, 1962, he married the former Mary Malloy at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He dedicated his career to the VP P3 Community Squadrons. His various duty stations included Brunswick; Naples, Italy; and Pax River, Md. He retired in Brunswick with the Squadron VP 26 as a chief petty officer after 20 years of service. Among his interest were numerous outdoor work activities.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 44 years; his daughter, Geraldine and her husband, Jeffrey Costanzo, of Lisbon; his three sons, Peter and his wife, Loretta, Martin of Lisbon, Paul Martin of Lisbon and Dennis Martin of Lisbon; seven grandchildren, Stephanie and Michelle Martin of Lisbon, Hannah and Sarah Martin of Lisbon Falls, and Seth, Bridgette and Erin Costanzo of Lisbon; three sisters, Carmen and her husband, Alben Thibodeau, of Caribou, Irene Thibodeau of Caribou and Pauline Ouellette of Van Buren; and one brother, Conrad Martin of Van Buren.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Gertrude Ouellette, Arlene Martin and Alfreda Doucele; and one brother, Normand Martin.
