LEWISTON – Mary E. Sigurdsson, 82, wife of the Rev. Rupert Sigurdsson, of 25 Camp Road, Hartford, went suddenly to a higher life on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

She was born in Norristown, Pa., on Feb. 7, 1924, the daughter of James A. Norris Jr. and Katherine (Tomes) Norris.

Mary and Rupert were married on Dec. 24, 1939, in English Creek N.J., where they built their own home and started a poultry farm, which they operated for many years.

They moved to Hartford in the early 1980s, building their own home there as well.

Mary was the co-founder of the Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Center and Camp, the charter member and past board member. She spent much of her life in the teaching of spiritualism. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Gwen Watts of Turner, Haines Sigurdsson of Largo, Fla., and Rosanna Toth and her husband, Andy, of Lewiston; a sister, Alberta Geiger of Florida; two brothers, James Norris of New Jersey and Conrad Norris of California; a sister-in-law, Virginia Norris of Hartford; a niece, Ginny DeVault and her husband, Randy, of Hartford; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Sigurdsson, in 1994.
