LEWISTON – Rita J. Verville, 88, formerly of 245 Bartlett St., Lewiston, died Friday, Nov. 24, at Montello Manor in Lewiston, where she resided for the past several years.
She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 27, 1918. She was the daughter of Eugene and Claudia Poisson Verville. Rita was educated in local parochial schools and graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul Academy.
She was employed in the local textile industry for many years, retiring from the finishing room at Bates Manufacturing in 1967.
A member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, she also belonged to La Survivance Francaise, the Women’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, and Lewiston Senior Citizens.
Rita loved to travel and maintained a correspondence with many relatives and friends.
Survivors include a brother, Roger Verville of Cape Cod, Mass.; a sister, Laurianne Fournier of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; and several brothers and sisters, Regina Bilodeau, Maurice Verville, Alfred Verville, Armand Verville, Raoul Verville, Henri Verville, Wilfrid Verville, Antonio Verville, Roland Verville, Sr. Gratienne Verville O.P. and Muriel Verville.
