LEWISTON – Alice Yvonne Michaud passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Lewiston on June 17, 1920, the second child of Pierre and Emma Allaire Michaud.

She lived most of her life in Lewiston, working in the weave room at Hill Mill and a shoe shop in Auburn. She moved to St. Petersburg Florida with her mother in the mid 1960s, returning to Maine in the early 70s.

After her mother’s death in 1972, she took care of herself and enjoyed walking. She walked everywhere, traveling many miles each day, and enjoyed the independence of doing so.

In 1998, she moved to Seville Park Plaza at Schooner Retirement Community on Stetson Road in Auburn, where she easily settled in, making a new set of friends.

Aunt Alice had a sweet heart and a most pleasant disposition. And she sure could make you laugh! It was easy to see that she had the best kept secrets to a happy life – simple pleasures and the benefit of laughter. She delighted the Seville staff and residents alike and her often silly comments had their intended effect – to make you smile. She is missed by us all.

She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Arthur, Celina Martin, Armand, and Anora Campeau.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Armand (Elizabeth) Michaud of Sabattus; two nieces, Susan Goodwin of Brewer, and Jackie Campeau and her sons, Paul and Richard.

We would like to thank everyone on the staff at Schooner for loving her and caring for her and making her last years very happy and content. They were her “family” for eight years and we are especially grateful for their kindness. We also thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and d’Youville Pavilion for her recent care.
