Lewiston – Charles E.R. “Ray” Bunker, 86, of Mechanic Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 26, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 24, 1920, the son of Walter and Abbie Ray Bunker. He attended school in New Gloucester and graduated from Edward Little High School. He was a store clerk for his uncle at a grocery store in Lewiston and worked at the Portland shipyard before the war.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Jacqueline Briggs on June 12, 1947. He was an insurance salesman for many years. After retirement he worked at Northeast Bank.

He was a member of the town council, the planning board and Tree Warden and Economic Development Committee for the town of Mechanic Falls. He also served on the Androscoggin County Budget Committee, was past master of Tyrian Lodge 73 AF & AM, past high priest of St. Andrews RAC, past illustrious master of Dunlap Council, treasurer for the Masonic Holding Corporation and a member of the Scottish Rites.

He attended the United Pentacostal Church in Lewiston and kept busy gardening and woodworking. He was a wonderful husband.

He is survived by his wife of Mechanic Falls; a son, Ronald, and his wife, Evelyn, of Minot; two grandchildren, Katie Bunker of Mississippi and Charles Bunker of Auburn; two sisters, Orlean Sturgis of New Gloucester and Aldine Crocker, and her husband, Sam, of Brewer; a sister-in-law, Donna King, and her husband, Eliot, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Bunker; and a brother-in-law, Eliott Sturgis.
