JAY – The Jay Middle School Lego League teams will hold a Community Night at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in the school cafeteria.

The 24 students who have been participating in the Lego League program since the beginning of the school year have been preparing for this year’s competition. The school will enter three teams of eight students each in the Southern Maine Lego League competition.

The Community Night is a chance for parents, community members and the media to see the students do a dress rehearsal for the competition, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Jay High School. The theme competition is “Nanotechnology,” which uses tiny devices to assist people in their lives.

Each team will do a presentation and a creative application of the newly emerging field of science. Also, each team will demonstrate their robot, constructed and programmed using Lego Mindstorm Kits and software. The robots perform missions that demonstrate simulated applications of nanotechnology.

For information on the Community Night, contact Rob Taylor at Jay Middle School, 897-4319 or robtaylor@jayms.jay.k2.me.us.
