DIXFIELD – Selectmen on Monday approved a 2007 budget of $301,029 for the Dixfield Water Department. The amount is slightly lower than this year, due to to the town contracting with the Mexico Water District for operation.

The utility serves about 575 customers, and charges about $55 per quarter, according to Town Manager Jeff Jacobson and public works director Tim Hanson.

The town began contracting with neighboring Mexico last year to operate its water service.

In other matters Monday, after a public hearing the board approved an automobile junkyard permit for James Speranza of Pennacook Road.

They also delayed action on the adoption of a 2007 sewer department budget until after a special selectmen’s meeting next Monday. The budget is expected to be adopted at the board’s regular Dec. 11 meeting.

Hanson said he wants to review a draft of an infiltration and inflow management plan that Dixfield, Rumford and Mexico are considering for operation of their respective sewer plants.
