CONWAY, N.H. (AP) – A man stole cash from a gift shop after cutting the store owner’s hand with a knife, then held a woman at knifepoint in her apartment, authorities said Monday.

Jason Simon, 30, of Conway, was arraigned in the District Court for Northern Carroll County and was ordered held on $75,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and second-degree assault.

Police said he robbed the Best Regards gift store Sunday afternoon, then left on foot. Witnesses told police he had entered a Main Street building, where officers found him inside an apartment.

The woman living in the apartment told police Simon was armed with a knife and held her against her will, police said. Simon lived in a different apartment in the same building.

The store owner suffered a minor hand injury, said Lt. Joseph Faia.
