LISBON – Ann Marie Watson, 73, of Webster Road, Lisbon, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 27, with her family at her side after a two-year courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Worcester, Mass., Dec. 6, 1932, to Annie (McGovern) and Delphis Roy. She attended Auburn High School in Auburn, Mass., where she was a cheerleader, prom gueen and a basketball player. She graduated in 1951.

In 1950, she met the love of her life, Walter (Red) Watson Sr. They married on June 12, 1954 in Auburn, Mass.

She led a Navy wife’s life, traveling immensely while working various jobs and starting a family. They finally settled in Sabattus in 1965.

She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed Foxwoods with her bingo buddies. She was also actively involved with the American Legion Post 158 over the past 40 years, where she served as the second vice president for two years. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9459. She was also involved with the Sabattus schools, where she started the PTA and lunch programs.

Together she and “Red” had seven children whom she is survived by, Phil Watson of Lisbon, Charlie and Linda Watson of Sabattus, Ann and Jack Lachance of Sabattus, Marty and Donna Watson of Monmouth, Beth and Rick Dubois of Wales, Walter Jr. and Karrie Watson of Lisbon and Theresa Watson of Sabattus; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter “Red” Watson Sr.; her parents, Annie and Delphis Roy; and her nephew, Bobby Watson.
