I recently attended one of my grandkids’ youth hockey games at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. The owner of the arena should be ashamed.
The ladies room had no toilet paper in the stalls, and there were no paper towels. This is not the first time. This is probably the only arena I visit that offers no concessions during youth hockey, and I travel across Maine and New Hampshire for games and tournaments. This is embarrassing. Patrons should not have to leave the arena and drive all over the city to find coffee.
I realize that youth hockey in Lewiston takes a back seat to the Maineiacs, and whatever else takes place at the arena, but it should be remembered the Maineiacs started as youth hockey players themselves. I would just like to see the arena place a little more importance on our youth.
There were also puddles all over the ice, and at $200 an hour for ice time, I expect better. I’ve been going to my sons’, and now grandkids’, youth hockey games for almost 30 years.
Let’s get on the bandwagon and make it better for all involved.
