JAY – A Wilton man ended up in jail Wednesday after police found out he had given a relative’s name and license information to them when he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed Nov. 10.
Police officer Stephen Wilkinson had given the driver a written warning for speed after he checked the driver’s information he was given and it came back clean, police Chief Larry White Sr. said Thursday.
After investigation, however, Wilkinson learned that the information he was given was wrong and found out who the person was who was driving the vehicle.
He arrested Walter G. Noble, 63, of Wilton Wednesday on a charge of deception, White said.
Noble had given police a relative’s name when he was stopped, White said.
It turns out Noble had an extensive driving history of 41 convictions and 29 withdrawals, or suspensions of his license, White said.
Noble was at the Franklin County jail Thursday morning with no bail listed.
