HEBRON – Nancy Marshall, who was to have spoken on Wednesday, Dec. 6, as part of the Entrepreneurship Program at Hebron Academy, has rescheduled her visit to January, date to be announced.

Bake at library

NORWAY – “Get Baking @ Your Library!” is an invitation to Oxford Hills teens ages 13 to 18 to make a gingerbread house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Norway Memorial Library.

Hilary White, OHCHS junior, will instruct participants in the art of decorating for the holidays. The houses will be made with graham crackers, and participants will be supplied with all the materials needed. Deadline to register is Wednesday, Dec. 6, and space is limited. Veterans’ tribute

BUCKFIELD – The John D. Long Post 58, American Legion, will host a tribute to all veterans at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Buckfield High School. The guest speaker will be Paul L’Heureux, first vice commander, Department of Maine. Robert Perry will give a tribute to all veterans. Music will be provided by the Buckfield High School music department. Refreshments will follow courtesy of the Auxiliary.

Sunday service

NORWAY – The Sunday, Dec. 10, service at the First Universalist Church will be led by Joe Perham, frequently serving in the pulpit at Norway UU and a member of the First Universalist Church of West Paris, Norway’s sister church.

Services will start at 11 a.m., and child care is provided. The choir will be led by the music director, Heather Pierson. The First Universalist Church of Norway, Unitarian Universalist is located at 479 Main St.

AARP meeting

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter, AARP, will meet at noon Monday, Dec. 11, for lunch and a Christmas party at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, South Paris. Reservations are required for lunch by calling Audrey at 743-1643 by noon Friday, Dec. 8. Cost is $6.50. Members should bring a canned good or nonperishable item for donation to the Oxford Hills Food Pantry.

Heywood party

NORWAY – The Heywood Club of Norway will hold its annual Christmas party on Monday, Dec. 11. The evening will begin with a social hour at the home of Barbara Townsend at 5:15 p.m.

Members will then car pool to the First Congregational Church in South Paris for dinner and singing of Christmas carols. Cost for dinner is $7.

Instead of a gift exchange, a collection will be taken for local families in need. RSVP as soon as possible to Patty Rice at 743-2285. To arrange for a ride, call Sheila at 743-2570.

AARP trips

PARIS – The Oxford Hills AARP has announced the last two trips of the year. A holiday trip to see the Christmas spectacular at the Wang Center in Boston will leave at 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, from the old Ames Plaza, returning about 9 p.m. The group will also see the “Magic of Christmas” in Portland on Friday, Dec. 15, leaving from the old Ames Plaza at 8 a.m. and returning about 5:30 p.m.

Both trips are sold out, but people should call Henrietta 743-6722 to be put on a waiting list.

Henrietta and Wally Taft will no longer plan the trips due to health reasons. Pat Pulkkinen has volunteered to plan the trips for next year starting with the “Stars on Ice” in March at the Civic Center in Portland.

Call her at 743-8513 for information. The new group will be called the Oxford Hills Travelers.

Children’s play

BETHEL – Children’s Stage Adventures will present “The Princess and the Pea” at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Crescent Park School. Tickets at the door will be $8 for students, $10 adults and $12 reserved seating. For more information, call 824-2839.

Church supper

BETHEL – The Bethel United Methodist Church will sponsor a public supper starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the church. The menu will include baked beans, hot dishes, salads, dessert, rolls and beverage. Prices are $6 adults and $3 for ages under 12. Lighting of the Christmas Tree will follow the meal at 6:30 p.m.

Fall production

BETHEL – Western Mountains Senior Players will present their fall production of seven comical and dramatic one-act plays at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Gould Academy’s McLaughlin Auditorium, Science Building, Church Street. Sponsored by Western Mountains Senior College, the public is invited and admission is free. For more information, call Lynn Arizzi at 824-0080.
