LEWISTON – Earl L. Tracy Jr., 79, of Auburn, passed away after a long illness with his loving family by his side at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion on Sunday, Dec. 3.
He was born in Mercer, on Sept. 18, 1927, the son of the late Earl Leslie Tracy Sr. and Grace (Soule) Tracy. He was educated in the Mercer school system and later went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army Occupation Forces after World War II. He then spent many years working for Norwock and G.H. Bass Shoe companies. He married Vivian Currier on Feb. 18, 1950, in New Sharon. He and his wife lived in Wilton and North Jay until 1999, when they moved to Auburn.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 124 in New Sharon, a former member of the Franklin Grange 50 in Wilton, a former volunteer for the Wilton and North Jay Fire Department and a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Auburn.
He had a great love for the outdoors, this brought him his passion of gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a family man, a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Tracy of 56 years; his three sons, Barry Tracy of Far Rockaway, N.Y., Blair Tracy, and wife, Vicky, of Sabattus and Brian Tracy, and wife, Nicky, of Lewiston; his two daughters, Brenda Clark, and husband, Robert, of Cumberland and Barbara Girardin, and husband, Michael, of Auburn; his nine grandchildren, Kristen Clark Duffy, Daniel Clark, Troy and Zachary Tracy, Katelyn and Andrew Tracy and Hailey, Thomas and Leighton Girardin; a sister, Avis Mahoney of Rockland; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
The family wishes to extended their sincere heart felt appreciation and thanks to the wonderful staff at d’Youville 3 West and to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for the exceptional care given to Earl and the compassion shown to him and his family.
